This will be the first retreat in Canada that offers PADI mermaid certifications over the duration of the weekend retreat and so much more! This is an all inclusive retreat ,meaning your certifications, meals and accommodations are all included in the price. You will enjoy a 4 day and 3 night stay in a beautiful shared space style cottage with private lake access, sauna, fire pit and so much more. You will spend time growing and learning while in the water during the mermaid and freedive classes, as well as breath work and safety on land. You will spend time building connections, get business mentoring, learn new skills or harness skills better, while relaxing in this shared space with like minded merfolk.

Your spot when booked for this retreat is not refundable for any reason. If for some reason you can not commit to the retreat, we under our discretion may open the spot to someone else, but you will not receive a refund unless your spot is taken. This is only for a rare case though and no refunds will be issued for any reason, unless we, Mermaids Make Waves, need to cancel the retreat.
Q: What if COVID impacts the retreat?
A: Our team closely monitors the the situation with COVID and will be following all requirements in accordance to Health Canada's guidelines. If necessary due to restrictions and we have to cancel the retreat, you will receive a full refund.
Q: Do I need previous dive or mermaid experience to come to this retreat?
A: No, you do not need to have previous experience, but you do need to know how to swim.
Q: Who is this retreat for?
A: For anyone who is interested in getting there PADI Mermaid and PADI Basic Freediving certifications and wants to spend a weekend immersed in a fun experience gaining knowledge and experience in these two fields.
Q: Why should I come to this retreat?
A: These retreat is for you if you want to gain professional certifications, knowledge and experience building proper breath holding techniques, work on depth swimming, build your confidence, learn safety techniques for you and others, harness mermaid skills, learn new tricks and connect with likeminded people in an amazing weekend getaway.
Q: What do I need to bring to the retreat?
A: There is a list above of all items you are required to bring but once you secure your spot you will be sent out a welcome package with all other details highlighted there.
Q: How old do I have to be to attend the retreat?
A: You must be 18 years of age or older to attend this retreat. We have classes and courses for all other age groups, but the retreat age requirement is 18+.
Q: Can I bring someone with me to the retreat?
A: Unfortunately, no. Due to spots being limited and how these retreats are held you can not bring anyone with you.
Q: How many spots are there for the retreat?
A: The retreat runs between 4-10 people plus instructors but spots can vary and are limited.
Q: Will everyone pass the certifications?
A: While the majority of people do complete their certifications, there is the chance that someone may not complete all requirements to pass, but we will be working very carefully with everyone to give you all the tools and knowledge to use to help you to succeed.
Q: Where will I get my certifications from?
A: You will receive your certifications from PADI.
Q: Can I stay in my own accommodations?
A: Due to the nature of this retreat, you will stay in the shared accommodations to help ensure success of the retreat.
Q: What does shared space mean in regards to accommodations?
A: This means that we will all be staying in the same cottage, sharing the kitchen, living space, bathrooms, and possibly sleeping arrangements with other participants of the retreat.
Q: Where is the closest airport to Val-des-Monts, Quebec?
A: Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport (YND) is approximately 35 minutes from the cottage location.
Q: Are there any forms I need to fill out?
A: Yes there is a medical form that PADI requires all students to fill out before attending these courses. Please note you may need to have a doctor sign off on the form based on your honest answers to the medical questions.
Q: Why are spots non-refundable?
A: Our team works extremely hard to ensure the success of these retreats and spots are very limited, therefore there will be no refunds for any reason.
